The City : Window One
Installation
Cardboard, papers and satellite dishes
Variable dimensions
2018
The city: window 1 introduces the scene of the city of Cairo - through the eyes of a resident- which is topped by those dishes standing like soldiers on top of the buildings, after the city was invaded by them in the late eighties. Their presence became the predominant and prominent; a testimony to the relation between Cairo residents and their private spaces (Home), which in turn produced those grotesque buildings that lacked the minimum of identity and architecture except for one element, which is filling the void. While the relation between them and the world that these satellite dishes are broadcasting grows in a fast and noticeable way.
The project aims to record social and urban changes that analyze what behind those recorded scene.
